History of Rail Line
The Credit Valley Railway Company (CVR) built the rail line and extended rail service to Orangeville in 1879, not long after Orangeville was incorporated as a Town in 1874.
Over the years, different gauges, railway lines and railway companies have come and gone but the service had been constant since that time.
In September 2000, CPR transferred ownership of the 55-kilometre (34-mile) section of railway that connects Orangeville to the CPR mail line in Streetsville to the ORDC. Many stakeholders co-operated to successfully purchase the line.
The OBRY is in the railway business for the long haul!
