Collection Schedule and Amount of Garbage

The Town of Orangeville provides the following level of service for garbage and recycling collection. The cost to provide these services is financed through taxation:

  • One pick-up per week from each assessed dwelling unit.
  • Effective July 1, 2007, a total of one (1) bag or item may be put out for collection on each collection day, exclusive of recyclable materials. Stickers, costing $2 each, can be purchased for items/bags in excess of the limit.

Large garbage items (for example mattresses, couches, furniture, etc.) may be put out to the curbside provided that they have a Large Item sticker on them that has been purchased from the Town or one of its distributors.  The large Item stickers are $15 each and are available at the following locations:

  • Treasury Department, Orangeville Municipal Office, 87 Broadway
  • Orangeville Public Library
  • Orangeville Mall, Lottery Kiosk
  • Metro Food Stores - 150 First Street (Orangeville Mall)
  • Sobey's
  • Operations Centre, 500 C Line

There is no garbage and recycling collection on New Year's Day, Good Friday, Canada Day or Christmas Day, if the statutory holiday falls on a week day. If that is the case, there are advertisements in the local newspapers explaining how the collection schedule is changed. This information is also available in the Town Info Calendar.
